Major update: cron 3.5.0 → 4.4.0

Skipped during the non-breaking 3.4 dependency pass because this is a major version bump.

Notes

  • Review the v4 changelog for API / behaviour changes
  • Check timer / scheduled job usage in src/timers/
  • Run build and tests after upgrading
